PCB prototype design is a step that largely determines the final use of PCBs, and therefore the design and production process should be as accurate as possible. Each layer and copper markings are extremely important and must be designed under high tolerance. Also, testing is performed at more than one level to check if all requirements and functionality are met.
The requirements are deciding on many factors, mainly based on the functionality and features of the end product. The PCB prototype is designed to meet these requirements, which can further facilitate mass production, as required by the client.
For obvious reasons, some manufacturers are better than others, and can get a PCB prototype ready for a shorter time. Before commencing the production of printed circuit boards, the customer will contact one of the experienced field manufacturers with their request set. At this stage, the first concern is to prepare the prototype.
In general, PCB prototypes are tested several times and more than a few independent tests are needed to ensure that all functionalities are working as expected. The interested manufacturer will record the results and document any possible concerns. The interested manufacturer must have a team that can keep the PCB prototype integrity while complying with client requests.
